DFF-Holocene sea ice variability in the Arctic

"Holocene sea ice variability in the Arctic" is a DFF funded project 1 (Inge Lehmann) with the aim to study how sea ice have varied over the Holocene (1131-00007) .

I am PI of this project, which funded also PhD Nanna Andreasen in the period 2022-present.

PRECISE

PRECISE-PREdicting Changes in Ice Sheets on Earth is a 6-year Novo funded Challenge project which started in 2023. Primary Investigator is Christine Hvidberg. The project also involves DMI, and Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences at Northumbria University (UNN).

TiPES

TiPES is a Horizon 2020 funded project that will run from September 2019 and 4 years on. The main object is to better quantify the tipping elements that are present in the climate system and to ensure that climate projections also include these.

From 2018 to present I work within WP1 on on paleoclimatic tipping points. In addition I am the scientific manager for TiPES and active in the outreach of the project.

ice2ice

Ice2ice was an ERC synergy project running 2015-2018 with the aim to understand better the connection between sea ice and land ice.

My research was on WP 1in reconstructing past sea ice changes from ice core proxies. In addition I was the scientific manager and very active in the outreach for Ice2ice.

The NEEM ice coring project

Between 2007 and 2012 an ice core to bedrock was drilled in North-West Greenland to retrieve ice from the previous interglacial, the Eemian. In 2015 the camp equipment was pulled across the ice for another deep drilling project, The East Greenland Ice-core Project (EastGRIP).

I participated in field work in 2010 doing Continuous flow analysis and in 2012 packing down camp and dping surface science. In 2015 I was part of the traverse moving the dome to the EGRIP site.
